Lesson On Outsourcing In Business
LAST WEEK I TOLD YOU ABOUT MY START IN BUSINESS. I WAS GENERATING THOUSANDS IN MY BUSINESS AND SPENDING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OUTSOURCING.
I was outsourcing EVERYTHING. Let me be the first to admit I am not the most tech-savvy person, so I felt like it was vital for me to outsource everything. I wanted business to be launched “right,” and I needed those experts in the beginning. I felt like everything had to be perfect and so to ensure client happiness, I needed copious amounts of help.
LESSON ON OUTSOURCING IN BUSINESS
The problem was that I had no clue what they were doing. All the things were getting done but I had no clue how. I had no clue how to update my website, I couldn’t change pricing without waiting for someone else and I didn’t understand my email stats.
I was the CEO of a company I didn’t really know how to run.
I am a firm believer in outsourcing things. If I were doing EVERYTHING in my business, it’d be hard to do all the other things I want to do.
When outsourcing I believe it’s vital you learn the things you want to outsource first.
Learn how to use your website.
Write blogs in your voice first.
Do the live streams.
Create the business you want and know how to run it.
I got to a point where I had outsourced so much I didn’t really know how to make changes in my business without help.
SO I STOPPED OUTSOURCING EVERYTHING AND HIT THE BOOKS.
I spent time reading books and articles, taking courses, watching YouTube videos, and hiring my own coaches. I needed to learn how to run my business before I outsourced again. There is so much information out there for you to learn if you just spend the time doing so. You don’t need to be a WordPress expert, email guru, social media pro, etc. in order to make your business run. You can function in learning the basics, and that’s what I needed. I had to get back to the basics.
Getting back to the basics really helped me figure out what I love doing in my business and what I don’t.
For instance, I love having a blog, but I don’t love designing my blogs. I can do it. I am capable, but there are people better at it than I am.
It’s the knowing how to do it though that has empowered me beyond belief.
Back to the blog design, when I was hiring a blog designer, I knew what I wanted. I knew what I needed them to be able to do because I’ve done it myself, I knew my system. I was able to speak to designers with confidence because I came from a place of understanding.
Now I can continue to chat with my designers because I know what’s going on.
I may not have been the blog design expert, but I knew enough. I know that if there’s something that needs to be changed, it’s easy for me to go in and make a quick change; I can swap a photo, move some text, change a price point, etc. without emailing my designer and waiting for changes.

A SUCCESSFUL CEO CAN JUMP INTO ANY ROLE IN THEIR COMPANY.
They don’t need to be the professional. That’s why we hire the CFO, the CMO, HR, etc. but the CEO understands the basics. The CEO can read the financial statements, and it makes sense. They can handle HR issues. They can have a conversation with the CMO and know what’s going on.
No one is asking you to hold certifications in 30 different areas, but learn the basics.
You’ll feel empowered hiring out. You’ll feel confident in the experts you hire because you can speak their language.
INVESTING: LESSON ON OUTSOURCING IN BUSINESS
Remember when I said I was spending a fortune on business expenses? I had a whole team costing me thousands. Now I spend roughly 3k a month on my entire team, software and coach. I’ve drastically reduced my expenses because I took the time to learn. If my accounting software suddenly stopped working, I could jump into a spreadsheet and start keeping track without a major headache.
I am a big fan of investing smartly. Figure out what you truly need to invest in and outsource and do it. Find the right team members. Find the right tools. Hire the right coach. Find the things you need to run your business efficiently but in a way that feels good.
Investing smartly will have you bringing in more to your personal account, reduce the stress and leave you empowered.
After I got back to the basics, it was easier for me to invest and outsource. I felt more confident in my hires, I feel excited about each team member because I understand them. I know how long things took me to do and what I can expect from them, I have a deeper appreciation for the work they do.
